Guardian Homes

An Ethical Standard of Breeding

Although large kennels can and are done successfully, at Rafter 7 Ranch it is important to us that our breeding dogs live in home and receive ample care and attention. Most of our breeding dogs live with us, but in order to promote genetic diversity and expand for the next generation of breeding, a Guardian Home is the perfect solution. A Guardian Home is a family that receives a high-quality breeding puppy to become a member of their family without cost.  At eight weeks of age, a top-quality puppy will be sent home to an approved guardian family. In exchange, the family agrees to follow the conditions as written in our Guardian Home Contract while it is in our breeding program. When the dog is retired from breeding (after a maximum of four litters for females, 5 years old for males), the dog would be spayed or neutered and full AKC Registration and Ownership is transferred to the guardian family. Once retired, the dog remains with its guardian family. If the Guardian Homes are interested, they can be a Guardian Home again or they can purchase a separate puppy at a discounted price. Guardian Homes must be within 2 hours of Vader, Washington.  If you are interested, please send us an e-mail at r7rdachshunds@gmail.com.

"Zorro is a great companion with an amazing temperament. Hanna and her family are wonderful to work with, and being a Guardian Home has been a great experience"
